Drayton Manor Zoo is home to Sulawesi Crested Macaque, an endangered species. Recently, on 20/02/19, the park had a new arrival to accompany the current Macaque, Aisleen, this was Tanisho. The pair are hoped to be taking part in the European Endangered Species Breeding Programme (EEP) which aims to conserve healthy populations of animals in captivity.

Sulawesi macaques are from the Tangkoko reserve in the Indonesian island of Sulawesi, their numbers are dwindling in the wild as a result of hunting, and destruction of their natural habitat. It is hoped that the involvement of Drayton Manor in this exciting Breeding Programme will help both raise awareness of the endangered species but also increase population numbers.
