We ate lunch yesterday when we went to the park and as usual it didn’t disappoint. I’m always impressed by the quality of the food at Drayton manor and it’s not too badly priced either. In comparison to Alton towers it’s far superior.

We always eat lunch at the farm area as it’s not to busy round there. We Gutted they not allowed to make fresh food on site now as they baguettes were lovely. I always have a warm ham and cheese panini with crisps and neither a cold drink in the summer or hot chocolate if it’s cold. My daughter has a Ham sandwich with the bear crisps, Apple juice and muffins. Last year with my annual pass discount cost roughly £8.40 which isn’t bad and with the change I let her go the sweet shop which also is good value.

I didn’t realise they couldn’t make them fresh on site now. When did that happen? I assume that’s why you now get a pre packed sand which with the kids packs?

I always love the food at Drayton manor. It’s always fresh, and it’s consistent which is a big issue for parks like Alton Towers whose quality varies on the day of the week / server, etc.

My favourite has to be Safari Pizza - but the variety they have is second to none. What theme park offers Fish & Chips, Chicken, Sandwiches, Toasties, Burgers, Pizza, Pies, Pasties and more? Plus the Grill Inn and Parklands Restaurants - which are incredible.

The grill is a great restaurant and very reasonably priced. Not tried the parklands yet.

I do like safari pizza and pasta, I just wish it was warmer in the winter. People keep opening the doors at the side which makes it freezing.

The Grill is great, being local to the park I quite frequently stop in for a bite to eat. Parklands is also great, I’ve been a couple of times whilst the park has been closed.

The menu is varied and the food is always of high standard, as is the service. My favourite has to be Thai Fishcakes - the burgers for main are also very nice. The hotel bar also has a nice chilled out vibe.

I think the “out of park” dining options Drayton Manor has are second to none - it’s great that you can stop by when the park is closed and you don’t have to be a park guest to dine. I definitely think the offering is far superior to the Alton Towers Hotel restaurants.

Safari is great, although I agree it can be a little cold. It seems to be the former main doors which don’t have the closing hinges any more. It’d be great if they could be locked (although I’m sure the park would do this if it wasn’t for fire regulations?) or the hinges added back - only a small fix to an already exemplary venue. One of the best in the UK, I must say.

I see that a lot of parks including Paulton's Park are partnering with technology companies such as Attractions.Io to provide pre-ordering of food. This could work really well for the park considering how many outlets there are and the fact that this can be limited should one branch be oversubscribed. Having plenty of outdoor and grass space means the food can be consumed elsewhere and simply collected.

Obviously the only limitation of this being when there is poor weather, I suppose Safari Pizza & Pasta would be okay, as would the Burger Kitchen as it is split over two floors. Short of this there is Eat, Drink, Enjoy and Chicken Diner with limited capacity, and the places in Thomas Land being near impossible. Would you be happy with such a service?

It appears that the Ice Cream kiosk in the Zoo has now been removed! I believe the outlet was refaced last season with Nuii fixtures. If the fences which previously encompassed the dining area were removed, there is quite a considerable space for future development!

The former Kelly's of Cornwall branding of the kiosk at the entrance to Maelstrom has been removed and replaced with Cadbury / Oreo Branding, the kiosk looks quite smart and social distancing markers are in place!

They hope to have to open for next weekend as I guess with the main park been open more guests will be allowed into the park.

Just thought I have to say where the looping group are improving the park and around the zoo area there new pricing and options is rubbish. Should have taken a picture but non of the main food outlets had deals so for example just for a burger it was £5.75 then you could order sides of Fries and a drink which would have worked out around £10. We usually have a panini or a sandwich with crisps and a drink but even the kids boxes have gone with no sandwiches in site. Think it could be down to visitors bringing there own picnics but as I got a fussy daughter she just ended up with a cookie and a pack of crisps. I had a sausage roll with a pack of crisps

I have to admit I was disappointed with the removal of all the meal deals and my son was disappointed that the kids pack was no more, so we ended up at safari pizza and pasta.

Value for money wise, it’s defiantly as good as it used to be.
