Newbies Here!

Hi guys and gals!

We’re off to Drayton Manor next weekend for the first time and are very excited. We’re a couple that’s coming up from London to see what all the crack is about. We are so glad to have came across this forum full of enthusiastic like minded folks. Seeing the love here has gotten us real amped up!

As a pair of newbies, do you have any tips for a maximum fun day?

(The Bear Caps)

it’s going to be a busy weekend if the weather is good especially considering it’s bank holiday weekend.

If you planning to spend the entire day, I’d definitely recommend heading to the wave first as the queues for that do get horrendous due to it being a one train cycle. The same with the haunting, this usually opens around 11ish (the exact time will be on the gate) however there’s no fast pass for this attraction and ride cycles are once every 30 mins, try and tick this off when the queues arnt large. It’s definitely worth a visit for this.

Hope you have fun x

Welcome!! Common wisdom is that you do the water rides last. I'd suggest that if you are planning to go on Stormforce 10 at all then go early. The thing is pretty unreliable and may not still bein action when you want to ride.

That being said, you could say the same about Goldrush at the moment.

Hope you have a great day.

Wow thank you for the tips. The haunting sounds cool, I was checking out some pictures from The Haunting. The 360 degree room seems trippy.

What would you rate it from 1 to spooky?

Yeah we’re really excited to try the wave, I’m doing my best to keep my SO’s nerves calm as it’ll be her first time on a rollercoaster lol!

Thank you for the warm welcome. We’ll take your advice for Stormforce 10, that’s our most anticipated ride. The atmosphere and lifeboat theme alone looks incredible.

What do people think of the fast pass? It seems quite expensive!

Also what’s the zoo like? We haven’t seen much hype about that…

It’s located in frontier falls and it’s hidden away but if definitely recommend it. It’s been my favourite ride in park since I was a child. It’s gone through different versions however the current version is a mixture of two. The ride itself is more a mixture of 90s horror / more creep factor. It can be loud (the sound system is hit and miss) however for a ride as old as the Verona madhouse at Drayton , it’s definitely something to tick off.

You’re be fine on the wave. I think the scariest part is the restraint system but it’s so secure, personally I think it’s better than stand up for comfort.

Fast pass is great but sometimes it doesn’t work. The fast pass queue is merged with the disability queue so sometimes it doesn’t mean you will get on quicker but you’re be able to get a feel for it on the day.

The zoo is great for a quieter setting and they are now doing live q&a’s with zoo keepers. Their is a train that takes you between Thomas land and the zoo but I’d recommend walking to the zoo and then getting the train back as it will be a short wait where as if you get on at Thomas land, it tends to get massive queues as most people walk through the zoo back to frontier falls.

Welcome :)
The forum is full of tips and tricks to help get the most out of your day.

Food outlets can close early, so don't leave eating til the end of the day.
The Wave & Gold Rush can get quite popular so will get the longer queues

We've a host of videos on the DraytonTalk channel including one which shows whats on for Waterfest and a few rides information videos (more to come) - these may help show a bit about whats in store for the Waterfest event which is currently ongoing:

Happy posting and have a great visit!
