2026: General Discussion

The licence fees in that note are not £1 million per year, but capitalised costs over the length of the licence, so realistically the cost is £71k per year. Licences are released to the profit and loss account over the terms of the licence so if £1 million over 20 years, would release one twentieth each year. Still a significant cost. The pages that will detail the cost are not filed at Companies House. The licence is released over the term of the licence and as Theme Park Andy stated, this will be for all licences not just Thomasland. It will however be for significant licences and not trivial (cost) licences like the alcohol licences etc.

I would expect that the park will be focussed on renewing the key licences like Thomasland and the zoo. I think we will see some new attractions, but I do wonder if the are focussing on the next 5 year plan, particularly with the new Universal park coming. The park did well last year and they focussed on the christmas event last year and the lake show. I think we will see something materialise in the next couple of years, but not convinced it will be pirate adventure.

The park was VERY quiet on Sunday. I suspect the weather forecast kept people away. It was meant to be a rainy day... As is turned out the day started cloudy and was mosty sunny (and quite warm) for the rest of the day. :)

Longest wait was 20 minutes for Gold Rush. 2 trains isn't making the waits shorter, btw. :(

The Wave was walk on for the first half of the day. 2nd half 15-20 minutes.

Maelstrom is running under capacity. They were using a ticket system to reserve your ride for the day. I went on several times WITHOUT a ticket - which proves that was completly pointless! The guest host said they were busy earlier in the day and that's why they were doing it. NOPE. I was there all day, and it wasn't even close to being busy!

Air Race still not working. Two of the planes are missing their propellers.

The new end of day show was great. I probably wasn't in the best spot. I was sat on the DM sign next to the lake. I had fireworks to left of me and a fountian to the right, thankfully the clowns and jokers had left by that point! ;)

The area next to the wave and the lake is closed off. Not sure if this is temporary or something else?

I stayed in the hotel last night and went back in this morning so my kids could have a couple of rides before we went home...10.33 we got to Maelstrom and the attendant gave me a time sheet that said 12.30, I asked why it was that long and he said "I've given enough time sheets out already today, hence that wait time"

he's given how many out in 3 minutes? Nobody was even there before me :censored:

The Hotel no longer offers early entry into the park for guests either. Asked this morning and was told that it has been stopped and guests are given fast track passes instead (not included if you are staying at the bed and breakfast rate either)

Whilst waiting at the viking entrance this morning, which still has the hotel guest/pass holder signs by the entrance (why they havent been removed if hotel guests no longer get early entry is confusing)...proven by the fact there was quite a few unhappy people when they found out it had stopped and had to wait till 10.30 like everyone else...why can they not relay this info to guests at reception instead of leaving it to the entrance staff?
