What's new

Any news?

Accelerator is still the same, no Pirates, Zoo’s not changing, Penny Arcade is shut for good, Wave still on one train, Air Race having maintenance. Is there anything positive going on this decade minus Gold Rush? Or are we carrying on the decay from the 2010s?

There have been a lot of changes lately in the way the park is operated / management side of things.
Certain rides & attractions have seen operational changes (which have been discussed in other threads)

Give them time, looks like they need to find their feet a little amidst the internal changes.
As for investment - I don't think we will see any "new" things this year other than event changes.
Ongoing maintenance however may not always be seen but is there (ie. internal works)

Submarine Splash & some new animals have also been added to the zoo in recent years.
The zoo has also had improvement works / changes to enclosures & some animals have moved around (We also saw the Civet's introduced this year, the bear & wolves in the past few years )
4D cinema has had two shows in 2 years

Hopefully 2027 sees a new ride come into the main park.

I noticed a pattern forming.
Like the Bryan’s last added a ride in 2017 and the visitor numbers dropped.
Even today at the park the car park looked busy but with my son’s pass.
Only really had to use it on the rapids where the queue was near the top of the stairs and Gold Rush as that is also on 1 train again.
Blasting Barrels, the Haunting, Accelerator, Sheriff Showdown and the Dodgems were on 1 cycle wait.
Thor was 2 cycle wait and Loki was only using 1 side.
Now with Gold Rush been 2 years old in a couple of weeks they can’t go another season without no new attractions as visitors won’t come and annual passes won’t get renewed.

It just feels as though Drayton Manor is lost its direction a bit doesn't a bit aimless, they need to get ride availability sorted and ops the worst operated Major UK Theme Park at the moment, and I really dislike saying that as I do love the setting of the park

I just think they went big with the Christmas event and only having 4 weeks to get Thomas land open for Feb half term and then another 6 weeks to get the rest of the park open they fell behind with the maintenance but in the main park only Air Race is unavailable with James and the red balloon all back together.

Cranky's Drop Tower and Harolds was also closed the other day

I personally think they need to get rid of Loki. It feels like it’s been years now since they loaded both sides. Seems to defeat the point of the ride.

They loaded both sides a few weekends ago but it’s sooo slow with a single staff member - really needs 2 minimum

Paid a post school visit today.

The main attractions were either busy (Wave) or Closed (SF10) - I know its old and rickety but when the weather is like this you need to keep your main water ride functioning as much as possible.

The Rapids was walk on, and stay on. So we walked on and stayed on. It was a bit frustrating to see that there were so many staff on operations here but so few punters - and when rides that could benefit from extra staff were probably providing the kind of customer experience that frustrates.

This malaise was caused by the style over substance approach of management and it will not just disappear with them. Clear new direction and getting the basics right is important.

There is a lot of good will towards the park, folks want to see it succeed, but that isn't going to last forever. Got to get the basics right.
