The future for the Flying Dutchman

Hi, so we know about the Flying Dutchman at Drayton Manor, it's an older ride from 1984, but it's not that popular anymore, and I think it's a bit out of place near Frontier Falls, what do you think might happen to it, could it be removed for a better to attract more guests, or something new to fit in Frontier Falls? Or what would you like to see happen to it.

I personally don’t think Flying Dutchman is going anywhere. It’s a high capacity ride, but still had a queue at times when I visited yesterday.

It seems to have had a somewhat large winter strip, and has now had an Operator Booth and CCTV Fitted.

For the amount of space available, and the logistics of removing the underground pipes for Flying Dutchman, I don’t personally think it’d be worth it.

I do agree it’d be good to see it themed into the surrounding area, though! I’ve always thought it was a shame it didn’t sit in the Pirate-themed area in the middle of the park…

There was rumours that it was going to move to Vikings, over the closed season especially as the tower was dismantled for complete maintenance, however it did not relocate and instead got a new op box etc- which has instead secured the future of the ride in its current location for a while longer at least.

As to why it didn't move, not a clue, but I was under the impression it was going to move. (can be a range of reasons to why this didn't happen)

We love the ride and hope to sail many years yet

It would be nice if it to be put in vikings and re themed, but it should hopefully sail for a while

Did think that it's days were numbered when they wave swinger arrived, but as has been mentioned you do need a few high capacity rides that allow a "quick hit" when there are long queues for main attractions.

Think as the swings have a minimal height requirement of 1.0m I think they done a good thing as it allows families under that height to fly in the air. Drayton outside of Thomas land only have a select number of rides the whole family can enjoy

Drayton themselves I don't think has ever had hand me down rides. They did with Thorpe Zodiac is Drayton Manors old Enterprise
