The Haunting

I watched them when they used 3 members of staff. When the 1 member of staff loaded them onto the mad house they then go and sit down by the ride operator which is in the trailer. I guess they do the same with 2 operators as you see the guests exiting the ride and they still not got the next lot of guests loaded into the trailer. It’s the worst RPH in the world with 32 riders per cycle so the max it can do is 128 guests ph.

I always wondered why was the capacity reduced? The system used to have a good throughput especially in the early 2000’s so why did guest throughput get reduced?

I think it most be a manufacturer recommendation or someone on the end got there leg trapped under/between the bar as it originally was 3-4-3 per row then it was reduced to 2-3-2 but this season it’s been upped to 2-4-2.

Looks like further refurbishment is beginning.Sign looks to have been knocked down and moved to side of shed.
Looks like its snapped off the bottom more than anything, i wouldn't be complaining if the shed was removed though.

Everything was mostly working on Saturday, some of the lights for the 96' skeleton has stopped working / turned off, it hasn't been lowering for a while so that might be the reason. The lights in the chapel were at different levels of brightness when at idle which was interesting, 2 were at full brightness whilst almost all of them were basically off. This wont be a surprise but the chapel speaker is knackered again.

The Haunting was very popular on Sunday

Can’t believe they only had 2 staff on.
The work on the garden hasn’t changed much in 4 weeks

I notice that some of the trees in the garden are numbered

Now on to the ride.
The staff have more lines now we entered the trailer they say the usually rules but at the end they said we hope we don’t make you jump and laughed.
Now I’m not sure if the Skeleton corridor broken or they were not using it to make the line move more quickly but we just walked straight into the library room.
This has been improved with all the same effects but after the final ghost above looked at you a smoke machine from under the floor went off and filled the room.
The mad house really needs some work. The lights on the walls stayed on all the time and the sound really needs to be upgraded as you can hear it turning more than the audio.

The Haunting is shut basically all of October this year according to the ride availability calendar on the website, as well as many other rides.

Possibly work happening during this period or just saving costs?. I wouldn't be particularly happy if they have shut it for the season without notice.

Edit: It's been featured in the new Halloween event video so i assume it'll be open after the 24th to season close.

To be honest if they are keeping most the park open for Christmas , I can understand if they do close some rides here and there to aid with maintenance as it’s gonna be a big turn around otherwise to get everything checked and maintained ready for April.

It’s what other parks I know draytons not 365 just using as an example the 365 parks do

I think that the introduction of this is a positive step towards better transparency. It may at times be disappointing that a set ride such as the Haunting is closed, but if you want a certain ride then worthwhile coming a different day if you can.

It would be nice if they were trying to do a little twist for Halloween and it is part of the plan to have it open for Halloween.

I feel like having The Haunting specifically unavailable for october is unfortunate as a lot of guests like a scary / dark / haunted themed ride like it as a way to celebrate the halloween season.
Aiming for that main half term week to reopen is fine and all, but those visiting in october but unable to visit for that week will miss out on the parks only ride which hits that theme

whilst I do understand the need for maintenance and how maintenance schedules go, this one may have been better done earlier in the year to ensure that it could operate for the "peak" interest time for it :)

The Haunting was open today! In fact, River Rapids (maybe also Captain’s Sea Adventure but I never went in Thomas Land to know for sure) was the only one of the supposed closed rides that was actually closed today.
