Zoo Improvements

M
I don't think they should get rid of it. It's nice to have a stroll round after having some lunch/break from the rides
My main priority with Zoos is Animal welfare comes first and there cages are small at Drayton Manor and Dated plus there is so many empty cages you could expand the current enclosures.

You look at Flamingo Land, West Midlands Safari and Chessington the animals have far more room to roam. Got to remember no cage is substitute for these animals in the wild would 1000s of miles

Fantasy creature trail - I have said this one a few times, but will keep saying it as I think it would be a wonderful idea :D
Think Unicorns, dragons and other mythical beings. Especially with the castle it would tie in quite well

I think it’s good the looping group after 5 years in August is now starting to focus on the zoo more but I do wonder other than annual pass holders who really visit the zoo when they spent with tickets, parking and petrol around £150 for a family of 4. Also the only time they walking back though the zoo is when the train queue back to Thomas land is way out the station building.

I totally get what folks ay around animal welfare and having room to roam, but we must be careful not to attribute thoughts to animals which are from a human perspective.

A bird, for example, doesn't fly for leisure. An owl flies to hunt. If it doesnt need to hunt, it doesn't fly. So if you provide it with the food it needs...

I do think some of the animals should have a larger space for example the lynx being one of them. The spaces are outdated and whilst I’m all for conservation, it is difficult knowing some of the areas for these animals are so small.

A few times we have visited the lynx have been distressed. My little one wrote a letter to the zoo to raise his concerns and whilst he did receive a letter back to put his mind at ease , I was frustrated by one of the head keepers responses on site. My lil one approached a senior zoo member to express his concerns over the animal welfare and he was asked by the staff member “if you had food and water with your Xbox would you be happy living in a small space?” I was proud of my lad telling said staff member that he would rather have an open space to run than sitting in a small room all day with a games console.
